A Peace Bond is a court order that can be issued by a judge when there is fear of personal injury to the applicant, the applicant's partner, their children, or there is fear of damage to the applicant's property. If a Peace Bond is being sought against you, you are entitled to defend that application. In Manitoba, Peace Bond applications are determined before a Provincial Court Judge.

In Manitoba, a Protection Order can be granted under The Domestic Violence and Stalking Act. Protection Orders can be granted on an urgent basis without the other party being present at the hearing. Protection Orders can have serious implications. If you have been served with a Protection Order, you have a limited time to try to have it cancelled.  The respondent then has only 20 days, (or a longer period if a judge allows it) to apply to have the order cancelled. A lawyer can assist you with this process.

Contact Kristofer to discuss applying for or defending these orders.
